Publishers Weekly Have You Lost Your Mind? | HarperStudio.

I haven’t weighed in my own mind whether or not I find this offensive.
My first reaction was to see whether or not the “final word” person, the editor, is African-American.
He is.

Then I got to thinking… does it make a difference? Should this photo be “ok” because an AFAM editor gave it the go-ahead?
Would this photo have been hailed as a work of genius if the concept was touted and executed by a different photographer? Would people then have hailed it as creative genius?
Would black folks have cried afoul if this were the case?
How, exactly, is this offensive? I haven’t determined just yet, and I’m not sure if I will ever count this cover as offensive.

SCOTUS, POTUS, Pimpin’ and Scrimpin’

A poetic mingling of jargon and slang

The SCOTUS made a 5-4 decision giving Gitmo prisoners some rights…

While Obama and McCain traipsed around

Getting support for the autumn POTUS fight…

I wish I had money for my clothes and car to be pimpin’*

But I am a student, gas costs too much

And my broke tail is scrimpin’.

The end
